01 Aug CRAINS: Animation company is latest film-industry tenant in Sunset Park
The owners of the Industry City retail and commercial complex continue to woo tenants in the film industry. Buck, a production company that specializes in animation, has signed on for 30,000 square feet at the 16-building waterfront property in Sunset Park. The firm is taking 15,000 square feet on both the fifth and sixth floors of Building 5 in a lease that stretches over 10 years. Asking rents range from the high $30s per square foot to the low $40s. “We wanted to be in Brooklyn, in a place that inspires our employees and excites our clients… everyone from Google to Instagram, Apple to Nike. Industry City delivers on that front, while also making us accessible to our employee base and giving us the flexibility to continue to grow,” Orion Tait a principal at the firm said in a statement. The deal is a significant expansion from the roughly 11,000 square feet Buck currently occupies at 11 Howard St. in SoHo. The firm will relocate to Brooklyn in the fall.
