Get dressed up and join Girl Knew York at IC to unveil their Fall of Man mural, have a drink at The Burger Joint bar, and talk about the future of art at Girl Knew York. Bestie necklaces, Knew York Rag 007 Fall of Man, and some small prints will be available for purchase.

Mira Mariah, the founder of Girl Knew York studio, created this mural as a peek inside the Girl Knew York studio, and a monument to what her community holds dear. The piece harkens back to iconic works like Matisse’s The Red Studio, and continues the long tradition of artists studying the places in which they create. Mira wanted to reflect back at Industry City the diverse inspirations of the artists and companies working here. The treasures pictured are not only hers, but belong to all of the Girls Knew York (and “girls” is gender neutral) she meets.  In her signature continuous line style, Mira sketches iconography that runs through her work, inspired by the coming season, Fall of Man.  Mira Mariah thinks in seasons, and the Girl Knew York community follows suit. This united symbolism creates excitement for new styles to wear, art to look at, poetry to write etc, as the weather changes. Mariah encourages her community to find inspiration both in the most contemporary of items, as well as the most traditional; a neon sign she designed sitting in harmony with a classic grecian column.

Mira Mariah is an artist and the creator of the brand Girl Knew York. Her work represents all she holds dear: beauty, human connection, girl culture, motherhood, glamor, romance and art history. Her following grew after debuting her continuous-line tattoo style, inspired by her training as a fashion illustrator at The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Her audience from across the world seek out her work for tattoos, art and merchandise. Girl Knew York produces a zine, Knew York Rag, to showcase the poetry, photography and art of the Girl Knew York team. Most recently Girl Knew York has partnered with brands such as Gucci, MeUndies, Inkbox, Bombas, Nike, Yellowpop and Avene on various products and campaigns to tell stories and ignite excitement.
