Hollander & Lexer: Miron Kiselev’s “Expressive Repair” Workshop
Sun, February 18 | 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Expressive Repair, developed and led by Miron Kislev, a recent fashion graduate from RISD, is an interactive workshop focused on repairing and prolonging the life of garments.
On a communal table in the lobby of Building 5, Miron will have a piece of fabric, on which he helps participants to leave a “mark”. By collecting the “marks” Miron gets to spend time with each person and engage them in a conversation about repair, “Fast Fashion” and our ability on an individual level to resist the urge to throw clothes away.
Materials for leaving a mark are embroidery floss, mini loom, beads, fabric scraps, etc. Miron will help each person to explore their imagination and allow them to have full authority over their “mark”. Miron may guide a person through a certain method or technique, but the ultimate goal is to capture each individual’s expression.
