NYC Public School Holiday Camps
Thu, October 3 | 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
CREA is the root word for create. Our interactive play space merges creative movement with creative technology, encouraging participants to explore, experiment, and co-develop. The entire sensory driven environment – from floors to walls – is alive with projections and is designed to engage kids’ imaginations, encourage physical movement, and teach STEAM-based game design skills through emergent technology.
Our day camps during one-two day school breaks provide children with a structured, engaging environment where they can participate in various activities, centered on hands-on learning & team-building activities.
The day consists of the CREA action-packed experience where players enter into an interactive technologically-driven environment, and learn about core game design principles. Following CREA’s hour-long physical adventures, players gather in our Design Lab to design and build our next environmental rescue adventure. This fall we will focus on Sustainable Cities.
Kids will learn the fundamentals of design thinking as it applies to gaming, and will be introduced to all the steps involved in the game development process; from research and planning to production and play testing.
The time spent in the Design Lab offers students the opportunity to research and brainstorm ways to solve environmental problems; understand concept art principles such as mood boards, 2D modeling, and drawing while working with different mediums such as sculpture, collaging and creative building (dioramas, blocks and legos).
They will learn the basics of animation/VFX art in game design using Procreate & Animated Drawings.
