IC Athletic Club: Boot Camp with Joel Canela

Bravery often means standing up for what you believe in. A mission. An idea. Or your Self. Bravery exists no differently in the creative industry. Establishing and believing in your unique point of view builds authenticity that will connect your creative mission to an audience — whether that’s collaborators, peers, or future employers.
Join the Asian Creative Foundation and Working Not Working for a discussion amongst recruiters and creatives on being brave and showing up as your authentic self in your portfolio and your job search. Moderator Cindi Leung (Asia Workplace Design Director, Nike) will review her recent career shifts (including moving back to the US market,) and lead the panelists Frannie Rhodes (SVP + Executive Director of Creative Talent at MullenLowe,) Sunita Deshpande (Creative Director @ FCB and Founder, The Side Show,) and Augusto Piccio IV (Designer @ Working Not Working) through a discussion on navigating the current landscape, from work habit trends to the remote vs. in-person debate.
You’ll get practical advice about what hirers look for in your portfolio, real-world examples from creatives on how having passion projects can win the client, and guidance on bringing your whole self to the center of everything you do.
This year ICDF is introducing The Talks @ ICDF, a platform for expert panelists to discuss the interaction of design and art, fashion, planning, disaster recovery, rebuilding, and more. The Talks will host experts from a diverse range of institutions and organizations like Cooper Hewitt, Central Saint Martin, NYC Jewelry Week, People in Places, and more.
