SUMMARY:The Comics Blueprint
DESCRIPTION:Refine your ideas or explore a new story surrounded by peers in this 2 week comics workshop led by writer and illustrator\, Davis Cathcart. \nIn this comics workshop\, students will learn how to put their story goals before their visuals in order to understand the fundamentals of visual storytelling and how the story drives imagery when the two are working in tandem. Students will execute on the ins and outs of story structure\, character and telling a narrative in the cuts. \nInstructor Bio: Davis Cathcart is an illustrator and writer currently residing in Ridgewood\, Queens\, New York. He has studied art and illustration at the Cooper Union\, Maryland Institute College of Art\, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)\, and the School of Visual Arts. He has worked for Maira Kalman\, William Wegman\, and The New Yorker’s Art Department. Davis has taught art to children of all ages in public schools all over New York City. Both RISD and the Society of Illustrators have given him awards for his illustration work. He likes telling cerebral stories that do not take themselves too seriously and tries to subvert the carefree aspects of his writing with the detail of his visuals. He plans to continue to publish his work and teach.

Performing songs created by the most iconic musicians in rock history\, The Rock and Roll Playhouse band offers its core audience of families with children age ten and under games\, movement\, stories and an opportunity to rock out in an effort to educate children and explore their creativity. The Rock and Roll Playhouse is an early and often first introduction to a child’s lifelong journey with live music and rock and roll. See you at the show! \nThis concert for kids and families shares the music of the artist named above with a new generation of music lovers\, but is not associated with or endorsed by the artist. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. \nThe Rock and Roll Playhouse knows that little ears are sensitive\, so we turn down the volume at our shows. However\, all kids experience music differently and you may find that your child is more comfortable wearing hearing protection earmuffs\, such as Baby Banz\, which are available for purchase here. \nBy attending this event\, I consent to my image (with or without my voice) being included in photographs and/or film and videotape of the event\, and give Brooklyn Bowl\, The Rock and Roll Playhouse and their respective licensees and assigns the absolute and irrevocable right and permission to use and publish such content in any and all media\, whether now known or hereafter developed.

SUMMARY:Hifi Provisions Presents Black Lotus Band with Alvin Dan
DESCRIPTION:Black Lotus Band\nNYC-based alternative RnB band working to develop their own sound and music that will capture listeners to be real and authentic to themselves — flaws and all. \nAlvin Dan\nAt the core of Alvin Dan’s sound is emotional honesty. He describes himself simply as “a sad boi who plays indie R&B\, jazz\, and folk and writes love songs to cope\,” but beneath that simplicity lies a deeper intention. His songwriting explores heartbreak and longing while challenging the extractive nature of the music industry. Rather than chasing individual success at the expense of creative autonomy\, Alvin believes in building collectives—spaces where artists uplift one another and ensure communities are cared for. For him\, music isn’t just expression; it’s infrastructure for connection and shared struggle. \nAll tickets will have a $1 fee that goes directly towards Hifi Provisions. All seats are first-come\, first-served. Tickets can be purchased in person or online. A valid ID will need to be presented if drinking alcoholic beverages.

He likes telling cerebral stories that do not take themselves too seriously and tries to subvert the carefree aspects of his writing with the detail of his visuals. He plans to continue to publish his work and teach.
