We built the 7,700-square-foot Innovation Lab to supply our local community with the training and education needed to earn well-paying jobs and the potential to turn those jobs into accomplished careers. In doing so, we provide businesses with a quality workforce that has the skills and drive to outperform.
The Lab is a catalyst for employment, providing pre-screening and job placement services, technology and vocational training programs. These services spur business growth, entrepreneurship and cooperative training programs, and offer continuing education for the benefit of community residents.
“By offering workforce development and readiness services, the Innovation Lab promises to create greater opportunity throughout Brooklyn,” said Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez. “As a largely immigrant, walk-to-work community, Sunset Park’s residents stand to benefit greatly from these services, which will also help meet local businesses’ workforce needs.”
“I commend Industry City and its partners for launching the Innovation Lab, which will make a tremendous improvement in the working lives of our communities.”
“The Innovation Lab is an important public-private collaboration that can provide needed education, training and job placement so that local residents can take full advantage of these future job opportunities. I applaud this initiative and I am committed to ensuring its success.”
“The Innovation Lab at Industry City will help ensure that a strong connection is made between employers and our Sunset Park community and that our residents have access to the cutting-edge workforce development resources they need and deserve.”
“I am proud to support the Innovation Lab and local non-profit organizations that are connecting Brooklynites to transformational opportunities that will benefit our shared future.”
“The Innovation Lab is an important step to creating a future for Sunset Park that is rooted in our true character of collaboration and shared goals,”
