What is Open Studios?
Open Studios is an annual event where the businesses that call Industry City home open their doors for a day of exploration and community building. It’s not just about fine art — you’ll find a wide range of creative spaces including architecture firms, fashion studios, retail shops, and more.
Meet the Makers
The finalized list of more than 60 participating studios and businesses will be posted in the coming days.
For now, here’s a first look at some of the creators you’ll be able to visit:
Rusty Zimmerman
Rusty Zimmerman is an American artist and founder of the Free Portrait Project. His 200 life-sitting portraits and recorded oral histories of Crown Heights have been exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, and Brooklyn Borough Hall, and are part of the permanent collection at Poster House NYC.
Morbid Anatomy
Morbid Anatomy is a Brooklyn-based library and gift shop dedicated to exploring death, culture, and the macabre through a collection of books, artifacts, and curiosities. Open most weekends with free admission, the library invites visitors to browse works on topics ranging from anatomical art to the occult. Morbid Anatomy also regularly hosts exhibitions, lectures, and events that celebrate the strange and the beautiful.
COVL
COVL is a Puerto Rican multidisciplinary artist and storyteller whose vibrant cultural identity and raw skill have led to collaborations with Nike, Netflix, Ulta Beauty, and more. Her work, spanning hand-painted basketball courts to contemporary painting, explores themes of healing, heritage, and creativity. In 2025, COVL continues her journey as an artist-in-residence at Industry City, leading programs focused on creative enrichment.

Known for its bold style and inclusive spirit, the studio has become a favorite spot at Industry City to refresh, recharge, and express yourself.
