Giving Tuesday sits a little heavier this year, as we have all experienced firsthand the struggle of living through a pandemic, and quite possibly witnessed your friend, neighbor, or work colleague hustle more than most to get by. Times like this remind us of community and its importance, we are grateful to have tenants and organizations in our community driving change and supporting those in need. This year we urge you to give back by donating time or money to the organizations below.

Mercado Global

Mercado Global was launched fifteen years ago with a mission to transform the lives of women, their families, and their communities – making a lasting, positive impact. Learn more about our journey and how supporters like you make it all possible, in our 15th anniversary report.

To drive change. To urgently build and improve justice systems that ensure fairness, promote safety, and strengthen communities. Vera works with others who share their vision to tackle the most pressing injustices of our day—from the causes and consequences of mass incarceration, racial disparities, and the loss of public trust in law enforcement, to the unmet needs of the vulnerable, the marginalized, and those harmed by crime and violence.

OBT

Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow exists to break the cycle of poverty and inequality through education, job training, and employment. OBT’s programs serve as a bridge to economic opportunity for youth, individuals, and families in underserved communities. They emphasize the principles of accountability, confidence, and professionalism to prepare participants for the workforce while developing personal and professional skills.

God’s Love We Deliver

The mission of God’s Love We Deliver is to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. They also provide illness-specific nutrition education and counseling to our clients, families, care providers and other service organizations.

  • To train the next generation of leaders in each of these fields

Drag Queen Story Hour

Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores. DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real.

SCO Family of Services helps New Yorkers build a strong foundation for the future.
